Acid Cleaning

Acid cleaning is usually done after a well has been in service for a number of years. When a well doesn’t provide as much volume that it did years ago, it is a sign that the well may need to be cleaned. It is common to hear people say, ” I used to be able to do the laundry and take a shower at the same time, now it is difficult to have enough pressure to do just one thing at a time now”.

What happens is that the stainless steel well screen in the bottom of the well that allows the water to enter the well, becomes clogged and encrusted with minerals. The acid cleaning process involves, pulling the pump and putting acid down the well to dissolve the minerals. After the acid works for a period of time, we then blow or develope the well with a big compressor to remove the nasty mineralized water. Next, we re-install the pump, chlorinate and re-pump the well until it is clear.
